FAQs
Questions Before You Build
Straight answers on cost, timescale, ownership, launch and support.
Cost & Scope
How much does it cost to build an app?
F5 Works currently offers fixed-price packages starting from £2,999. The right package depends on functionality, number of user types, integrations and overall complexity.
Are hosting and third-party services included?
That depends on the project. Services such as hosting, maps, payment processing, messaging or AI APIs may carry their own charges. We identify relevant third-party dependencies during scoping so they are visible.
What if I want to change the scope?
Ideas often evolve once the product starts taking shape. If a requested change sits outside the agreed scope, we will explain the likely impact on cost and timing before additional work begins.
Getting Started
Do I need a finished specification before contacting you?
No. You can come to us with an early idea, a rough feature list, designs or a fully developed brief. We will meet you at the stage you are at and help clarify what is needed next.
Can you help me decide what should be in version one?
Yes. This is one of the most important parts of our process. We help separate essential launch features from ideas that can sensibly move into a later release.
How long does it take?
It depends on the product. After understanding your requirements, we’ll provide a realistic development plan and expected launch window. We aim to get you seeing working software early rather than waiting until the end.
Ownership
Do I own my app?
Our proposition is full client ownership of the agreed deliverables, including source code and design files, subject to your agreement and any third-party components or licences used.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. Where appropriate, confidentiality arrangements can be put in place before commercially sensitive details are discussed.
Your Team
Where is my project managed?
F5 Works manages projects from the UK. You have a clear English-speaking point of contact responsible for communication and coordination across the build.
Are all developers based in the UK?
No. F5 Works combines UK-based project management with distributed development capability. The benefit to the client is one managed service rather than having to recruit and coordinate individual specialists.
What We Build
Do you build for Apple and Android?
Yes. We deliver apps for iOS and Android, including cross-platform solutions where appropriate.
Can you build an admin dashboard as well as the app?
Yes. Many mobile products need a web-based admin area or operational dashboard behind them. Where required, this can form part of the product scope.
Can you take over an existing app?
Yes. We’ll first review the existing code, infrastructure and documentation before recommending whether to continue with it, improve it or replace particular elements.
Launch & After
Will you submit the app to the stores?
Store submission is part of the current F5 Works proposition. We prepare the necessary build and submission material and support the review process.
What if Apple or Google rejects the app?
Store approval is ultimately controlled by Apple and Google. Where a submission receives feedback or is rejected, we’ll review the reason and address issues within the agreed project/support scope before resubmission.
What happens after launch?
Current F5 packages include six months’ maintenance after launch, after which ongoing support options can be agreed.
Can you add more features later?
Yes. For many new products, we’d rather launch a focused first version and develop additional functionality based on what customers actually use.
